Which is the best CFA Level 1 coaching in India ? I am a working professional, need genuine reviews..

Asked in k/cfa by · · 1 point · 12 answers · last answer

24, working at a CA firm in a tier-2 city for 2.5 years. Planning to take CFA Level 1 in the next cycle. No good offline coaching locally.

Budget: ₹70,000 to ₹80,000.

Top options:
- Quintedge (₹35,000-40,000) — my pick. A colleague cleared Level 2 with them after a failed attempt elsewhere.
- FinTree (₹45,000)
- Konvexity (₹40,000)
- IMS ProSchool (₹50,000)
- Self-study with Mark Meldrum's videos + Schweser notes (₹27,000)

Want honest input on batch pass rates, how fast they answer student doubts during peak season, and how tough their mock tests are versus the actual exam.

Locking my pick next week.

FinTree review — did Level 1 and Level 2 with them, cleared both first attempt. So here's how it played out.

Signed up for FinTree right after committing to CFA. First few weeks in, Utkarsh sir's quantitative methods and derivatives sessions blew me away — top-tier teaching.

By month 2, cracks showed. Lectures were LONG — over 4 hours for some chapters, brutal on a workday. Posted a doubt and waited 24 to 48 hours during peak season. Realised quickly that there is no live interaction — it is pure recorded content.

Halfway through, I hit the Financial Reporting and Analysis section and found it decent but not their strongest. I pulled in extra practice on the side. Sat for Level 1 and cleared, though the mocks had felt noticeably easier than the actual paper.

Fast forward to Level 2 prep — same pattern. Comparing notes with friends, most of the ones who cleared had ended up doing Quintedge for the structure and FinTree's quant lectures together. That combination worked best on a working schedule. Quintedge brought live doubt support, structured pacing, and harder mocks.

Looking back, 45,000 rupees for FinTree alone is fair if you are committing to the self-paced grind.

+1.

The Telegram community is the underrated part. Mock score discussions, post-exam analysis, all of it.

The alumni LinkedIn network is actually legitimate. Got 2 interview referrals through it.

For Level 2 though, supplement with Quintedge or Schweser mocks.

FinTree mocks alone are not enough at Level 2 difficulty.

- Institute: IMS ProSchool
- Location: Mumbai
- Year: 2024
- Level: Level 1
- Faculty I got: one of their senior teachers in my batch
- Key tip: which senior teacher you get is the make-or-break with IMS — ask which teachers will be in your batch before joining
- Classroom: solid
- Online version: a different product, skip it
- Alternatives for tier-2 cities: FinTree or Quintedge

Working professional in Bangalore fintech. Cleared Level 1 and Level 2 with pure self-study using Mark Meldrum's videos, end-of-chapter questions, and six mock tests — roughly 30,000 rupees in total.

Level 1 coaching is overkill for perhaps 60% of working professionals. It is a syllabus that rewards grinding, not magic. Two hours on weekdays plus six hours each weekend day will clear it.

The real trap is paying 60,000 rupees for 'accountability' that 60,000 rupees disappearing should already provide.

That said, not everyone is wired for this — my college roommate needed coaching for everything. An honest self-audit before committing is essential.

Did Quintedge for Level 2, currently on Level 3. This is going to read like a strong recommendation because it is one.

The four things that mattered for me as a working professional:

- Question bank — I tried Schweser, IFT, and a friend's Wiley material. Only Quintedge's case-style questions felt like real CFA Institute exam difficulty. Financial Reporting and Equity sections especially — calibrated to actual exam level, no caveats.
- Financial Reporting and Analysis teacher — the best I have had across all three levels. Consolidation accounting finally clicked after two attempts of trying to figure it out alone.
- Doubt portal — 4 to 8 hour response times through Level 2. Actual concept-level answers, not "we will get back to you" boilerplate. For working professionals this single feature is worth the 40,000 rupees — try getting that turnaround at FinTree or Konvexity.
- Mock difficulty — their Level 2 mocks were harder than the real exam. I was averaging 64 on theirs and scored 78 on the real paper. Financial Reporting and Equity sections specifically.

For Level 1 from scratch on a working-professional schedule, Quintedge is the right call. I would put it ahead of FinTree for anyone who needs structure and interaction over raw lecture content.

Know what actually saved me as a tier-2 candidate from Lucknow? Quintedge's portal. Did Level 1 last May, passed in band 7. But the real win? It helped me find 2 study partners in Jaipur and Nagpur. Why does that matter? When no one around you is doing CFA, you need that.

Looking back, picking EduPristine Hyderabad is one of those decisions I really wish I could undo. Their online platform felt like a 2016 Moodle they refuse to update, and I kept telling myself it was fine. The mocks were way too easy — I was scoring 75 to 80 and felt confident, then barely scraped through the real exam. That gap broke me a little.

For the original poster — I should have listened to people who warned me. Skip EduPristine entirely. Paying 60,000-plus for that is a waste. Wish someone had told me before I paid.

Two weeks ago a junior analyst on my desk pinged me on Slack — "sir, my cousin is starting Level 1 from a tier-2 city, which institute?" Charterholder here, AMC in Mumbai's Bandra-Kurla Complex. After watching over 100 candidates clear and fail in my circle the last 2 years, I sent her the same ranking I will drop here:

Top tier — Quintedge, FinTree. Both deliver consistently across all three levels.
→ Quintedge edges out for working professionals who want structure, live doubt support, and harder mocks.
→ FinTree edges out for self-paced learners who want pure lecture content.
Strong tier — AnalystPrep (great content, zero Indian examples), IMS ProSchool (senior faculty only — ask before joining).
Mid tier — Konvexity (jury still out, newer entrant).
Avoid — EduPristine, or anyone teaching the pre-2024 syllabus.

For working professionals in tier-2 cities specifically — places without a serious offline option — Quintedge is what I default to. Their doubt portal plus mock difficulty calibration is the closest thing to a real coaching centre those candidates can get.

But the institute is only 30% of the equation. The other 70%:
1. Will you finish the official CFA Institute curriculum, or just Schweser notes?
2. Will you do 1,500-plus practice questions including the end-of-chapter ones?
3. Will you do 4-plus timed mocks?
4. Will you stay consistent, or cram the last 6 weeks?

No coaching solves any of these. Pick a top-tier institute, put in 350 to 400 hours, you clear. The cousin? Locked in Quintedge yesterday.

THIS. Build that 5-month calendar in week 1, not week 6. I winged Level 2, fell 2 weeks behind, panic-crammed in the last stretch, failed by band 5. Pain.

For Level 3 I made a proper Google Sheet with daily checkmarks. Cleared.

Honestly, coaching matters less than having an actual calendar.

AnalystPrep user, cleared Level 1 and Level 2 first attempt (yes, both).

The lectures are genuinely top tier. Question bank is huge at 4,000-plus and actually well-calibrated (a rare combination, I know). Mocks are excellent for the price.

Downsides for Indian users — pricing is in dollars (around 229 per level for premium), which stings every time the rupee has a bad week. Live sessions run on US and UK timezones, which in India means late evening, after dinner, just before collapse. Fine for working professionals, I guess. Zero Indian charterholders for doubt-solving (shocking, I know), but the tutor system is responsive over email.

If you are comfortable with English as the primary language and don't need Indian context for the Ethics section, AnalystPrep is one of the best options for Level 2. For Level 1, FinTree is more cost-effective for Indian candidates — your call.

Avoid EduPristine. My CFA Level 1 saga, Mumbai 2022:

1. Signed up, paid in full, all smiles.
2. Month 2 — instructor number 1 vanishes mid-Ethics.
3. Month 3 — instructor number 2 quits.
4. Month 4 — instructor number 3 "reassigned".
5. Month 5 — instructor number 4 lands. Last 3 readings on Financial Reporting and Analysis were never properly covered.
6. Refund fight begins. 4 months of emails to recover 30% of what I paid.
7. Discovered the same pattern across their CFA, FRM, and ACCA wings.

Your CA senior was right with no explanation needed.

Second witness here — my brother-in-law, EduPristine Bangalore FRM in 2023, identical wreck. Same management group, same problems.

Tier-2 from Coimbatore, been lurking here for days just absorbing. Starting Level 1 prep soon and I am already nervous. 26 years old, married, kid on the way, pressure is real.

The one thing eating at me — how do working professionals actually pull this off? 9 hours of office, then home tired, and still open the books. Any tips on managing your energy would mean a lot.

Took Konvexity for Level 2 last November. Passed. Batch size was small. The founder replies on LinkedIn directly. Lectures are concise. Some people call them too concise. Worked for me. Supplemented with Mark Meldrum's videos for Ethics. Also used CFA Institute books directly.

For Level 1, FinTree may be a better fit. Level 1 needs more thoroughness. Konvexity may leave gaps for first-timers. 40,000 rupees is a steal if their style suits you.
