Knowseek help & FAQ

Answers to common questions about using Knowseek.

What is Knowseek?

Knowseek is a community for asking questions and sharing knowledge about CFA, FRM, ACCA, US CPA and finance careers. Posts are organized into communities, where members can ask questions, discuss experiences and reply to one another.

Can I browse without an account?

You can browse public communities, posts and profiles without signing in. Explore helps you find communities, and the search page helps you find discussions. Sign in and verify your email before participating through actions such as posting, voting, following or sending messages.

How do I ask a question or start a discussion?

Use Create Post, choose a community and enter a clear title with the context readers need. Select Question when you want answers, or Discussion when you want to exchange ideas. Read the community rules before posting.

Who can mark or change an accepted answer?

The person who posted a question can mark an answer as accepted, choose a different answer later, or remove the selection. Acceptance records the question author's choice. It is not assigned automatically from votes.

How do I send someone a direct message?

Open their profile and select Message. Whether you can start a conversation depends on their messaging settings and whether either person has blocked the other. If they follow you, a new conversation goes to their inbox; otherwise it starts as a message request.

How do message requests work?

The recipient can accept or decline a request. You can send up to three messages while waiting for acceptance, and links cannot be sent in a request. New accounts must wait 24 hours before sending requests, but can message people who follow them. A declined request stops further messages unless the recipient accepts it later.

What happens when I block or report someone?

Blocking prevents messages and follows between the two accounts and removes existing follows in both directions. The other person can see that they are blocked, and senders can see when their message request is declined. Use the report option on a post, comment, profile or message to flag content for moderation.

Can an email address used as a username appear in search?

If your username is an email address, Settings includes a Public email username option. It is off by default. Turning it on makes that username eligible for Knowseek search, profile recommendations, search engines, the sitemap and structured data. Turning it off withdraws that eligibility, although search-engine caches may take time to update. Text you put in public posts or profiles remains public.

How do I set a password for an existing account?

Open the account setup page and enter the email associated with your account. Request the email code, verify it and choose your own password. Setting a password keeps the same account and its existing messages. If no email has been associated with your account yet, an administrator must add your actual email before you can use this process.
